The Healing Power of Hydration: A Journey with Dr. Batman

Once upon a time, I stumbled upon a life-changing book, “You are not sick, you are thirsty,” written by a doctor affectionately known as Dr. Batman. This book opened my eyes to the importance of hydration and its impact on our health. As I delved deeper, I noticed improvements in my client’s health—reduced allergies, lower diabetes numbers, decreased blood pressure, fewer headaches, and increased energy. All of this, I believe, can be attributed to proper hydration.

Our bodies are made up of a significant percentage of water, and as one of our Egg Guardians once said, “We don’t die of old age; we die of dehydration.” This statement resonates with me, as I’ve learned that aging and changes in our body composition can make staying hydrated even more critical for our health.

Dehydration has been linked to numerous health issues, such as brain fog, Alzheimer’s, insomnia, gut pain, constipation, joint pain, fibromyalgia, low immunity, dizziness, and even bloating. My mission is to educate people about water and how to optimize its absorption to maintain optimal health.

One crucial aspect of hydration is the quality of water we consume. Tap water may contain trace amounts of medications, so it’s essential to filter our water. I use the Berkey water system to filter fluoride, heavy metals, and other impurities.

In addition to drinking quality water, it’s essential to consume hydrating foods like plant-based, raw foods, fruits, and vegetables. These foods have a cellular structure that allows our bodies to absorb water more efficiently.

Some factors can dehydrate us, like spending all day under fluorescent lights, lack of movement, and consuming carbonated water or coffee. The general rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces of water to combat this. It’s also vital to replenish minerals through natural sources like electrolyte drinks (not commercial ones, but good a good sources without synthesized minerals), cucumbers, celery, and mineral salts such as Celtic sea salt or Himalayan sea salt.

There are simple ways to check your hydration levels, like observing the skin’s elasticity on the top of your hand or the color of your urine. Clear or pale yellow urine is ideal, while dark yellow, brown, or orange indicates severe dehydration.

In conclusion, staying hydrated is essential to our health and well-being. Do your research, drink quality water, and consume hydrating foods. Remember, we don’t have to die of illness or dehydration. Let us all embark on this journey to better health and a more vibrant life with the wisdom of Dr. Batman guiding us.
